Downsizing or working with a narrow block doesn’t mean sacrificing style, or even space. Our new Bedford display home at HomeWorld Box Hill shows how contemporary style can shine in a compact design.

    Concept and Design

Nick Rawson, one of Hall & Hart’s directors, says that the Bedford “is perfect for more narrow blocks. The design is compact in width, but still achieves a great bedroom count, with four bedrooms on the first floor and a guest room on the ground floor.”

“The overall width of the design makes it ideal for the 12.19m wide blocks that are common on the North Shore, Inner West and Northern Beaches of Sydney.”

The Bedford’s design as seen in the display home incorporates a side entrance rather than a front entrance, although a front entrance is also available. As part of the building journey, the Hall & Hart team works with clients to tweak designs to their needs, creating a custom design without the custom price tag.

However, the side entrance design does allow for the extra guest bedroom. “The front entrance on a narrow design usually means there is only enough room for a small study at the front of the house,” says Nick.

“With a side entrance, there is no need for a hallway at the front, which allows for a larger room adjacent to the garage.”

    Convenient and Stylish Family Living

The Bedford is designed for easy family living. A great feature in the display home is a mud room located off the laundry. Perfect for hanging up school bags, storing dirty shoes and with direct access from the laundry via an external door…meaning that muddy shoes don’t have to be tracked through the hallway!

The mud room is a plan option, rather than a standard inclusion. During the planning process, you will choose which features you need to build a home that matches your family’s lifestyle perfectly.

Another stylish feature of the Bedford is the staircase, which runs from the ground floor living area up to the first floor. It provides great connectivity and a beautiful aesthetic.

    Think Hamptons…with a Contemporary Twist

The Bedford display home’s interior design is Hamptons-themed but designed by leading design practice DKO Architecture to have a contemporary feel.

The colour palette is a very crisp white and grey, with geometric tiling patterns. There’s less focus on traditional Hamptons features, with a vibrant injection of natural timber and stone instead.

The overlapping shades of grey and white throughout the home are broken up by both the geometric lines and the joinery and tiling, giving the home a contemporary feel.

The gorgeous furniture in the display home is definitely Hamptons-inspired, with fabrics, timbers and stone furniture giving the house a young, vibrantly coastal character.

As with all Hall & Hart Homes, the Bedford can be easily adapted to other interior design styles. Says Nick:

“The display home provides plenty of opportunity to enhance the living areas or joinery areas in a different theme. The feature staircase can also be adapted to reinforce any style for the home.”

When you build with Hall & Hart, you’ll have your own dedicated Interior Designer and Colour Consultant a our internal Design Studio, who will work with you to create your dream style.
