A True Forever Home in a Modern French Provincial Style
French provincial style has a timeless appeal. Classic lines and an elegant façade make it the perfect design for a spacious ‘forever home’ that won’t date. At Hall & Hart, we work with clients closely to put their own contemporary twist on the aesthetic, tailoring it to fit their family’s lifestyle.
The Ascot is a unique design by Hall & Hart, an elegant double-storied home that’s also ideal for growing families. On display at HomeWorld Box Hill, it exudes warmth and functionality, yet retains a sophisticated feel.
We’re delighted that the Ascot takes out first prize in the Display Home $800,000+ category at the 2021 Excellence in Housing Awards hosted by the prestigious Master Builders Association. The awards took place on Saturday, 12th November at the glamourous Star Casino, Sydney and for the first time, the 2021 awards will also be broadcast on November 21st.
Let’s pull back the curtains and take a look behind the scenes at the details which make the Ascot so special.
Clean Lines and High Ceilings
With a framework of strong, clean features and high ceilings, every room in the Ascot has a spacious grandeur. The raised feature ceiling in the living room at the rear of the house is a particular standout.
Nick Rawson, a Hall & Hart Director, says that the Ascot is “bold and elegant…it’s where new world functionality meets elegant Provincial design.”
Graceful living is achieved by thoughtful design in key areas. The kitchen, dining and alfresco areas connect for a seamless flow. Likewise, the kitchen, laundry and butler’s pantry work beautifully together for the demands of busy daily life, as well as stylish entertaining.
While the Ascot’s elegance is obvious, it also has the ambience of a true family home. The warm colourways and natural materials such as dark timbers and stone create the feeling of a retreat.
The traditional “French Provincial” aesthetic comes from 17th and 18th century farmhouses – a look that the Ascot home interprets in a contemporary way.
Exposed beam ceilings in the Ascot add that French Provincial feel, as do wrought iron balustrades and the colonial bar windows.
The house also boasts the pattern timber flooring that is typical of the aesthetic – in this case, a stunning blonde oak flooring laid in herringbone - and a statement kitchen and kitchen island.
However, the look is updated for the contemporary Australian lifestyle with modern features such as square-set ceiling junctions and Bankston Berlin door furnishings.
