We recently completed a gorgeous Hamptons-inspired home on a corner block in the Hills Shire of Sydney, which has been winning plaudits – and not only from its neighbours!
This special house was a finalist in the prestigious 2021 Master Builders Excellence in Housing & Pool Awards. Here’s how we impressed the judges!
A Stunning Façade Creates a Great First Impression

Our expert team works closely with clients throughout the whole journey, to create a truly customised home that is perfect for the particular block.
In this case, we were working with a corner block, so we tweaked the design to suit. A double gable roof line was designed to enhance the appearance from the street, paired with a stunning wraparound veranda that accentuates the Hamptons look from a corner view. Elegant window architraves and timber posts add beautiful character and charm for a high impact façade.
Flowing Spaces for Effortless Indoor-Outdoor Living
Once inside, the sense of space is remarkable. This house was based on our Cambridge floor plan, which features large open plan living spaces.
However, the client really wanted to enhance that feeling of space even further, so we extended the open plan living into a custom size rumpus and living area that opens onto a grand alfresco area with a stunning outdoor kitchen.
Bi-fold doors span the width of the house, creating a seamless entertaining area and an indoor-outdoor living space which is a perfect fit for the Australian lifestyle.
Seamless Functionality for a Busy Family
Special touches in this house create mixed-purpose areas which make the most of every single room.
For example, a combined butler’s pantry and laundry with side access creates a multifunctional space for a busy family and also keeps any messy signs of ‘daily life’ separate from the gracious open living and entertaining area.
A study nook was also designed to sit adjacent to the kitchen, cleverly accommodating after school homework time.
Making Affordable Luxury Attainable

All selections are made at our internal Design Studio. Our Interior Designers and Colour Consultants personalise everything and ensure the chosen style flows effortlessly through the entire home for a cohesive look and feel.
For this Hamptons-style beauty, custom cabinetry throughout the home combines the features from the kitchen, creating a common theme that ties everything together.
Another notable feature is the home theatre off the open plan living space, with dual cavity sliding doors to either create privacy or an extension of the living area.
The charming Hamptons theme is carried upstairs to the living and master bedroom areas.
The master bedroom features a ‘his and hers’ vanity, double shower and custom wardrobe fit out. It was designed to be separated from the remaining upstairs living area to create a blissfully private parent retreat.
We also designed a clever and stylish three-way bathroom that is both spacious and multi-functional for a busy household.
Using Monochrome to Create a Modern Classic
A modern black and white colour palette was used throughout the home with contrasting tiles, fixtures and fittings. The black and white creates a beautiful stage for the interior decor, with the clients opting for tasteful splashes of teal which are then echoed in the glistening aquamarine of the outdoor swimming pool.
The lighting scheme has also been carefully thought out. At Hall & Hart, we take an architectural approach to lighting, as we believe it can completely change the feel of a home. The carefully sourced and placed pendant lighting in this home sets off the neutral spaces and Hamptons-style fixtures.
